Multiplayer System Requirements
Internet (TCP/IP) and LAN (TCP/IP) play supported
Internet play requires broadband connection and latest drivers
LAN play requires network interface card and latest drivers
Multiplayer is where many quakers get really serious about the hunt for a high FPS, where one FPS really can be the difference between fragging or being fragged. Hopefully Quake 4 will not be locked to 60fps, I really liked the smooth movement in Quake 3 after a few computer upgrades, when reaching a steady 100+ fps. -- FreakyGaming
Historical Pre-official system requirements
Here are some older statements from id software regarding the expected system requirements in Quake 4, we have them saved here for historical purposes.
Tim Willits:
If you had a machine that could run Doom 3 decently, it will run Quake 4 decently. If you can run games like Half-Life 2 or EverQuest 2,
you should be fine. However, make sure that if you get a computer as a
new upgrade, particularly one that's advertised as a gaming machine,
that it has a few important features to help your experience. Most
computers now would probably want at least 512 megs of RAM, and don't
get a video card that has less than 128 megs of RAM - 256 megs is the
way to go.
