When Quake 4 starts, it shows a few different movie clips, one is called id machinery, they are pretty nice, but can be a bit of a bore after you've seen them a few times, so let's get rid of those intro movies.
Turning off the Quake 4 intro movies
To get rid of the intro movies, we add a startup parameter to quake4.exe.
First off, we need to have a shortcut to Quake 4, so we can add the startup parameter. In Windows XP you do this by right-clicking quake4.exe and selecting "create shortcut".
Right click the shortcut you created and add "+disconnect" to it, like this "quake4.exe +disconnect".
