How do I fix the Green graphics bug in Quake 4
Written by: Fredrik Olsson Published: 05-11-03 13:27 |
Symptoms
Everything on the screen is green or to be more specific, the graphics are rendered with a green tint. Aka. known as the green bug.
Problem
Most likely your graphics card is an ATI and is not on Quake 4's Supported hardware specification list.
The lowest support ATI card quake4 supports is the ATI 9700.
How to fix the green bug
Type in "gfxinfo" in the console to see which rendering path Quake 4 is using.
If the console reports "r200", try changing it to another path, type:
"r_renderer ARB2"
or
"r_renderer ARB"
This will force Quake 4 to use another rendering path which should fix the green screen problem.
Read the guide on How to use the Quake 4 console.
If Quake 4 defaults back to another renderer, you might want to add the "r_renderer ARB2" command in the autoexec.cfg file. Read the autoexec.cfg part in the Config file guide.
